We collect information you provide when you create an account, build a movrus Profile, save listings, set listing alerts, message landlords, or submit a rental application. This includes your name, email, phone number, employer/income (when applying), and any documents you upload (ID, paystubs, references).
We also collect technical data automatically: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Operate the platform: matching renters with listings, sending alerts, processing applications.
- Communicate with you about your account, alerts, applications, and tenancy.
- Verify identity and detect fraud.
- Improve product features and analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing Your Information
We share information only as needed:
- Landlords / property managers when you submit an application or message about a listing.
- Service providers (hosting, email, SMS, payment, screening) under contract.
- MLS data partners (e.g. Repliers) to display listings — we do not share renter PII with them.
- Authorities when required by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Listing Alerts & SMS
If you opt in to SMS alerts, your phone number is used solely to deliver listing notifications you requested. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time.
5. Your Choices & Rights
- Access, update, or delete your profile from the Renter Profile page.
- Manage or delete saved alerts from Listing Alerts.
- Unsubscribe from marketing email via the link in any message.
- Residents of California, the EU/UK, and similar jurisdictions have additional rights (access, portability, deletion). Contact us to exercise them.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and application data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes. Listing-alert match history is kept for 12 months.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, role-based access, and audit logging. No system is 100% secure; please notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Children
movrus is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
